Start with the applications your staff use, the number of displays and the ports they need. Then choose the form factor. A family name such as OptiPlex or ThinkCentre does not establish every configuration.
Which form factor fits your office?
| Form factor | When to consider it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mini / Micro / Tiny | Limited desk space | Display ports, mounting, power adapter and configuration-specific upgrade limits |
| SFF | A compact desktop with model-dependent internal options | Card dimensions, expansion slots and power supply capacity |
| Tower | Internal expansion is part of the requirement | Slots, drive space, cooling and compatibility; size alone does not guarantee expansion |
| All-in-One | Combining the display and computer in one unit | Display size, ports, servicing and model-specific upgrade options |
Do not choose by processor name alone
Identify the application version and its publisher’s requirements, then match the processor, memory, storage and operating system. Include multiple displays, peripherals and any graphics requirements. A single fixed configuration should not be assumed for an entire model family.
A useful quotation checklist
- Model, product number where available and quantity.
- Applications, daily workload and network requirements.
- Required processor, RAM, storage and operating system.
- Condition: new, refurbished or used as specified in the quote.
- Warranty, included accessories, setup and delivery city.
Is an older model suitable?
The answer depends on the workload, available support and equipment condition. Check operating system compatibility and the official support policy. A listing for an older model is not confirmation of availability or new condition.
How IT Genesis can help
Our Port Said team reviews business computer supply enquiries across Egypt and confirms configuration, condition, availability and warranty in writing. Setup and IT support can be discussed as separate agreed services.
